As a Technical Architect responsible for the domain of AI and Analytics Technology at Tata Steel Nederland (TSN), your role encompasses investigating new opportunities, advising project teams, conducting proof of concepts, and influencing stakeholders. You will be tasked with developing technology roadmaps for the coming years, specifically focusing on the technical design of the AI and Analytics landscape aligned with TSN's strategic direction. Your expertise will guide the direction of projects and solutions, ensuring scalability and the delivery of robust, high-performance solutions.
In this dynamic role, collaboration with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, is essential. You will engage in various activities and work closely with both external IT partners and internal departments, many of which have their own development teams, particularly in the manufacturing domain.
Your strategic influence extends to senior business stakeholders, ensuring strong engagement and aligning project deliveries with longer-term strategic goals. The optimization of the existing data architecture, delivery of reusable services, and identification of cost-saving opportunities within TSN’s policies and standards are part of your commitment to enhancing efficiency. The role-holder makes crucial decisions or provides relevant information/knowledge to make decisions about system design, platform selection, security protocols, and data management. By creating technology standards, assess the feasibility of new solutions, and decide on the integration of emerging technologies to meet organizational goals and optimize overall IT performance.
Leveraging AI and analytics can significantly enhance data-driven decision-making processes. For instance, implementing machine learning models can help predict trends, optimize operations, and improve experiences. Additionally, integrating AI with cloud-based analytics platforms can provide scalable and flexible solutions, enabling real-time data processing and insights.

The role of Technical Architect – AI and Analytics, is situated within the Technical Architecture team, part of the Enterprise Architecture & Digital Technology Platforms department of the Tata Steel Nederland IT function (TSN IT).

The Enterprise Architecture department oversees the strategic alignment and integration of technology within the organization. Comprising three distinct teams, it includes Technical Architecture, which focuses on the IT Technology; Business & Application Architecture, which aligns technology with business objectives and processes; and Digital Platform Technology, responsible for developing and maintaining digital platforms and solutions. Together, these teams collaborate to ensure that the organization's technology landscape supports its overall goals, enhances efficiency, and drives innovation.

The Technical Architecture team develops and maintains a coherent technical architecture and a consistent set of technical standards, policies and guidelines, aligned to the Enterprise Architecture direction for Tata Steel Nederland (TSN). The team’s objective is to design the future, and optimise the existing, technical landscape, to ensure that it is secure, sustainable, and sufficiently agile, to meet the evolving application, data, and collaboration requirements. The team is comprised of specialist architects, with deep knowledge of technologies, capabilities and trade-offs, in various technical domains such as; Data Technology, SAP Technology, Container Technology, Application Development, Application Automation, Digital Workplace, Software Generated AI, Application Integration, Network, Security Technology, Core Infrastructure and Identity & Access Management.

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of various AI and Analytics technologies while also demonstrating a commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest developments and demonstrating flexibility and eagerness to learn.

• You will have a degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in developing and implementing AI models and algorithms.
• Proficient in AI concepts (neural networks, CNN, RNN, GAN) and frameworks (Gym, RLlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Expertise in NLP techniques and libraries (NLTK, spaCy, BERT).
• Knowledge of Computer Vision (OpenCV), data preprocessing, feature engineering, data augmentation, model evaluation, and performance metrics.
• Experience with large-scale data processing and distributed computing platforms.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, Java, Jupyter.
• Proven involvement in digitalization programs and enterprise-wide IT solutions.
• Functional knowledge of Microsoft Azure and SAP S/4HANA data and analytics solutions such as Tibco Spotfire, Microsoft Power BI.
• Experience in data visualization and storytelling techniques.
• Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information to senior management.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and facilitate discussions across departments and with vendors.
• Interpersonal skills, including teamwork, leadership, and adaptability to address evolving organizational needs in the realm of IT technology.
• Ability to guide solution design and architecture aligning with business requirements.
• Understanding of ethical AI, including bias mitigation, fairness, and transparency.
• Experience in integrating AI models with IoT devices and edge computing for real-time analytics and decision-making.
• Proficiency in Dutch at a professional level is strongly preferred.
