We are looking for someone who has proven senior back-end development skills and is even willing to go beyond that. Join our team of experienced developers and work on one of the biggest and most complex projects within KPN: the Grip identity platform ( If you are a senior back-end developer and want to take it to the next level, join our team. The organizational unit within KPN?

As part of KPN TDO (= Technology & Digital Office), in the B2B IT Solutions organization. We are KPN's IT department for the business market and we work with self-organizing agile teams that test, manage, develop and maintain software for our customers and stakeholders.

We have teams in Zoetermeer, Ede and Rotterdam, at the moment we are looking for someone who will join our team once a week in Rotterdam and once a week in Zoetermeer.

What is Grip?

The Grip identity platform is used in a million ways. We serve as the identity foundation for KPN itself, MijnKPN Zakelijk, for our Business Partners, Internet of Things & MyKPN Wholesale. More than 380.000 organizations in the Netherlands use our platform now! Lots of stakeholders, means a big roadmap, and that's why we need you.

What's the assignment?

We work agile in a relaxed way and our team consists of developers, operations specialists, testers, a scrum master and a product owner. What we require is someone smart, willing to work hard, laugh and learn, who can work on our back-end. Your work will consist of implementing new functionalities as requested by our stakeholders, investigate performance improvements, discuss new architectural decisions/setup, fix (code) impediments etc. We do this in a controlled and Agile way using epics/stories, refinements, retrospectives and other team sessions, next to this you will review PR’s and listen/convince/discuss technical topics with your colleagues all with the higher goal of improving Grip for our customers!

What are the skills needed?

We’re looking for a senior developer who is eager to learn. We will help you get started! Next to that, enthusiasm about security, authentication and identity management solutions would be preferable.

  • NodeJS/TypeScript
  • Express
  • Unit testing
  • Azure (MySQL, NoSQL, CosmosDB, Functions, Opentelemetry)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD
  • Splunk, serverless computing, Jenkins etc. is a pre.

You are / have:

  • English in word and writing
  • Eager to learn continuously.
  • Have an EU passport or valid work permit for the Netherlands

The 'new way of working' Our way of working has changed since the pandemic. We work 2 days a week at the office (Wednesday in Rotterdam, Thursday in Zoetermeer). The rest of the week we work from home.
